standing in the water
holding out your arms to me
the child would never have hesitated
she would have run to your arms
but the woman hesitates
I have come so close to you
now it seems that to go any further
would truly be impossible
yet it hurts me to stay here
wanting to be closer
afraid of what I might feel
too much or would it not be enough
I feel you telling me it will be allright
somehow i keep believing
to step into the water
would be going too far.
