I did not name you
but I chose you
picking you
from all the others
from the start
loving you
knowing you belonged
with no one else
did you wait long
wondering if anyone
would ever find you
believing maybe
you would be abandoned
forever alone
no-one ever finding you
or wanting you
to be theirs
I did search for you
and we found each other
meant to be together
though I was not there
at your beginning
or the struggles you faced
I will be here
forever after.
